Integral to the Spirit of Poverty is the Spirit of Deception. It all began in the Garden of Eden. We were discussing the lie of tradition last week and how much tradition has contaminated religious thinking throughout the centuries.
We’ve been talking about the Law of Sowing and Reaping, and how it is so integral to the Law of Prosperity. As noted last week, it is the absolute antithesis of the Spirit of Poverty. Let’s see how far we can get in today’s discussion in understanding the poverty mindset and the spirit that drives it.
We wrapped up last week with the statement that Jesus wasn’t poor. In fact, Jesus had to be among the wealthiest individuals of that era. Consider how he began his life. At age two, when the magi came to visit him and pay honor and tribute to the “King of Kings,” they brought gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Last week’s discussion on poverty provoked a lot of thoughtful comments. Today’s sit-down ought to do more of the same. Let me begin today’s sharing with some personal experiences.
This is a topic that stirs a lot of folks. The Spirit of Poverty has so infected the body of Christ that all the symptoms of this spirit become accepted as the “norm” and the mindset of poverty literally rules a majority of Christians.
You’ll hear me say this again and again – not only in this series, but in many Coffee Breaks throughout the years. It is important to see and understand some of the principal causes behind poverty.
I’ve been promising to address this subject for some time, and that time has come. In the next two or three weeks (or however long it takes me) we will address the mindset, the attitudes and the spirit that drives poverty mentality. We’ll even have some fun along the way.
Well, I warned you last week that we needed to run down a religious rabbit trail, and that we needed to blow that rabbit trail apart. You see, the problem is that throughout the centuries, God’s people have been caught up in traditions that began with their ancestors – traditions that began before their ancestors had the kind of revelation that Holy Spirit is pouring out on His people today. We need to break those traditions and get out of the religious boxes that we’ve all suffered with for generations.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Few people in this age and generation really understand what it is to be joined together by the Lord in a union that is more than physical. People often get married because they “fall in love.” The problem is that in a few months or years, they “fall out of love.” Their relationship really wasn’t based on love but on a physical attraction to one another or because of seeming parallel interests.
We are really taking a different approach today to understanding the Tabernacle of David and the nature or praise and worship. You may even think I’ve gone off the deep end at first, but that’s OK. Bear with me while I lay some foundations. You will remember how we’ve talked about Lucifer and his original creation as worship leader in Heaven and how he was created to surround the Throne of God with worship. The concept of “surrounding” comes into play with where I want to go today, and why that was so significant.
