COME UP HIGHER

Part 2

Coming up higher is not a metaphor, or a figure of speech!  This is a real, living experience.  I don’t want to go there today because it would take too long for the time we have left, but in a couple of weeks, we will talk about living in the presence of the Lord.  That is something that Della and I have experienced in time past with unbelievable but tangible results.

 

Consider how John experienced the kind of revelation that opened up whole new dimensions to him.

 

Revelation 1:1-6:  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

 

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

 

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

 

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

 

There is so much contained here it is almost hard to quantify it!  Before we begin to break it down, though, there is one more accompanying statement that John makes which puts everything in perspective.

 

Revelation 1:19-11a:  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying,

 

I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book,….

 

John opens up his narrative of this stupendous revelation by telling us that everything He is about to put to parchment is a revelation of the person, the character, the essence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Then he says that if we read and heed the prophetic word he delivers, we will experience real blessing!  Then he gives us greetings from the Throne.  In those greetings alone are a revelation that there are seven spirits of God who dwell before the Throne and in the continual presence of the Lord.

 

Next, he tells us that we have been made to be kings and priests unto the Lord Jesus Christ and to God, the Father — while at the same time he ascribes to them total dominion and glory forever.

 

That may take some time to register in your spirits, but it is critical to remember that John said that he was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day.”  The significance of this statement cannot be overstated!

 

THIS is where real revelation take place!  THIS is where we come with the Lord into spheres and dimensions that cannot be experienced in our natural, mundane, every ordinary day.

 

The point that I want to emphasize, however, is that WE CAN live every day in the Spirit.  It isn’t difficult.  Once a person has been baptized in the Holy Spirit, there are a multitude of portals that await.  The catch is that we have to walk through those portals.

 

Speaking in tongues, for example, is an important portal.  Why?  Because we are speaking in the language of men and angels — languages that we have never learned, and therefore, our natural minds do not comprehend.  If your natural mind doesn’t comprehend what you are speaking, then what you are saying to the Lord cannot be interfered with by the Enemy.  You are communicating directly with the Lord.  Because this is a realm of the Spirit, the Lord is communicating back with you.  What He is showing you heads past your natural comprehension and goes directly to your spirit and your sub-conscious thinking.  There it resides until some event or circumstance calls it forth to your consciousness, and you act accordingly in the Spirit.

 

As with all the portals we have in the realm of the Spirit, the more we utilize them, the more seasoned we become with their use.  As that seasoning occurs, Holy Spirit begins to show us new portals that invite us to come up higher.  It is a progression.  It works this way for almost everyone.  There are exceptions, of course, but those exceptions are determined and orchestrated by Holy Spirit.

 

Another portal available for entry to those who are baptized in the Holy Spirit is the portal into healing, not to mention the portal into raising the dead, casting out demons,, etc., etc.,   I should caution you all.  Being baptized in the Holy Spirit is not the same as “being filled with the Spirit.”

 

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the gateway to being filled with the Spirit, but it isn’t automatic.  Being filled with the Spirit is something that requires us deliberately walking through the portals and living in those realms.

 

Let me take a quick break here and share a prophetic word. When I saw this prophecy from Nate Johnson and realized just how on target he was, I felt to incorporate it into our sharing for this week.  His prophetic word follows below.

 

I prophesy that the tide of the spirit-war that has been against you is turning, and you are about to come out of that place where 'word-warfare' has been your norm. You are about to feel God shift you out of feeling helpless and powerless, and He will block the chatter that constantly affects your home and keeps you in defeat. You will move out of survival and daily fighting for your life, where you have been constantly attacked and plundered, and you will get the upper hand.

 

You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose.

 

The areas where you have faced years of critical words, judgments, accusations, labeling and ownership, God is canceling their hold on your life. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back.

 

Where you have wanted to give up your purpose and hide, had doors blocked, answers delayed, and your name dragged through the mud, God is justifying you and vindicating you! Where your home was constantly under fire, your marriage targeted – dealing with strife and restlessness – your kids were sick, and you'd never felt rested or refreshed, God is clearing the air and bringing recompense to you.

 

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. He is revealing hearts and showing you the people who have been speaking against you to trip you up, usurp you, and speak demonically into your life. He is giving you discernment to see the areas where you have cast your pearls and given information and opened doors to the wrong people and alignments.

 

Their words were sent to shut down your prophetic words because the enemy could sense the purity of your own voice and wanted to kill it in its infancy, but the words are lifting, and the muzzles and silence that have shrouded you are coming off. The control, manipulation and "queen bee syndrome" that has kept you on the sidelines is being dealt with. God is shattering their insecure words and jealousy and restoring what was lost, delayed and held back.

 

Healing is coming to you where the wounds have been so deep that you haven't been able to see beyond them. But the oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your kingdom, without the restraints you have been used to.

 

This is where you leave the battlefield behind, shake off the dust and leave the lifestyle of 'bloodied battle' and survival behind. This is where you leave your victim mentality and your tattered cloak in the dust, and watch God settle the score that you have been trying to do on your own. This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest.

 

You have been lost in the storm, fighting the wrong fight, fighting fire with fire, but now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

 

Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and seats you with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

Watch now as God takes you above the snake-line where nothing can bite you and poison you anymore.

 

In the days to come, you will no longer be affected by the warfare you once faced; it will no longer even be on your radar.

 

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. This is your moment of freedom where the Lord is changing your address, showing you that peace is your birthright, victory is your norm and that your legacy doesn't have to be one of constant hardship.

 

Even right now, the Holy Spirit is healing you, severing every tie and emancipating you from every word curse and demonic torment that has shut you down and kept you in a rut. I command you to be FREE now, in Jesus' name!

 

Many of you will feel the fire of God over your body; some of you will feel peace, some will feel like oil is flooding over your mind, but many of you will know that there has been a shift. Something has lifted. As word assignments lift, doors will open, healing will come to bodies, and clarity will be restored. This is your 'deliverance from warfare' moment! 

 

Forgive those that have spoken unkind words over you. Bless those who persecute you. Stay out of chatter and talking about people. Live a worshipful lifestyle, and a non-reactionary lifestyle to the enemy and his schemes. Take communion often – the Blood speaks a better word! Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down; get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

 

I prophesy that you are coming up higher in Jesus' name!

 

"On the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, the edict commanded by the king was to be carried out. On this day the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but now the tables were turned and the Jews got the upper hand over those who hated them."

 

(Esther 9:1)

 

I was amazed at the timing of this word, coming on the heels of what I heard Holy Spirit speak to me.  There have been other like prophetic words being delivered by other very reputable prophets   It is clear that this is indeed exactly what the Lord wants from His people.  This is not a word to a select few believers.  The Lord is issuing this as a call for everyone.

 

For some, depending on the current level of their maturity or seasoning in God, coming up higher may well be a call to begin doing the works that Jesus did.  For those of us who have become well-seasoned in the Spirit and the Word, this is a call to dimensions we’ve only seen at a distance.  It is extremely critical that we respond accordingly.  Everyone’s first question is “how?”  This is where we say to the Lord, “Father, teach us!  Show us what to do first!”

 

OK.  Let me take you to the experience that John had when the Lord commanded him to “come up hither.”  The Lord makes it clear that the purpose of calling him to come up higher was to show him “things to come.”  In other words, the call was to a dimension that John had not seen or lived in.

 

Revelation 4:1-7:  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

 

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

 

And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

 

Notice that the way this invitation comes is that John sees “a door opened in heaven.”  Interestingly, the Greek word here that gets translated as “door” is the word, thura.  The literal translation of this word is “portal.”

 

Notice, also, that John describes his experience like this: “And immediately I was in the Spirit.”  One of the things I have experienced throughout my roughly 75 years of walking with the Lord is that there is no substitute for “being in the spirit.”

 

This is where revelation takes place.  This is where our spirits are open to receive from Holy Spirit, to receive things we won’t otherwise have access to.  Thus, when we hear the call to “come up higher,” that call is always going to take place “in the spirit.”

 

Whether we get into more depth in this topic today or not remains to be seen, but I will remind you that Jesus said to the woman at the well, “God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

 

That may be a very simple way of expressing our connection to the Lord, but it goes beyond normal human logic.

 

  We are not programmed by our society to think in terms of “Spirit.”  Everything around us teaches us to respond — react is more like it — to the things that go one around us in human, emotional, five-senses-thinking ways.  None of that is based in the Spirit.
